Press corner
Although IPEW start in January 2009, we have decided to avoid Christmas crush and to represent project already at 12th of December 2008. So we are inviting all the journalists and media deputy to join us at the press conference in Profil megastore (top floor) at 11 am (Zagreb). IPEW 2009 will present:
- IGOR LEŠNIK, artistic director
- Sonja ŠTEFANAC, director of Vatroslav Lisinski Music School, Bjelovar
- Ivana KOSTEŠIĆ, producer (Identitet d.o.o.)
- Dina BUŠIĆ, producer (Identitet d.o.o.)
And here are few words about IPEW 2009 by Igor LEŠNIK, artistic director:
„10, 20, 30... is not just an alignment of numbers but an overview of anniversaries that start with the opening concert of the International Percussion Week in Bjelovar on January 8th, 2009. The artistic director of the festival has been active on the percussion scene for thirty years, and the Percussion Studies at the Music Academy in Zagreb celebrate their twentieth year of existence. The resident festival ensemble biNg bang began its career ten concert seasons ago on the Bjelovar stage consisting mostly of the students of the V. Lisinski Music School in Bjelovar. Today, as the percussion ensemble of the Music School in Zagreb and as the winners of the title 'the best student percussion ensemble' won in 2004 in Nashville (USA), they have already performanced at some of the world's leading percussion festivals. Alone this season, the biNg bang members have played in China, Sweden and France, where they were welcomed by leading percussion ensembles - Percussions Claviers de Lyon, Kroumata and Global Percussion Network. At their birthday concert, biNg bang will be joined on stage by another ensemble celebrating its 10th anniversary – the Brazilian GRUPU led by Dr. Fernando Hashinoto. Because of IPEW's strivings to bring the audience not only the world's best percussionists but also promising newcomers, the same programme will feature soloist performances by the American virtuoso Arthur Lipner and the young Slovenian vibraphonist Vid Jamnik . The newest accomplishments of the professional percussion ensemble scene will be presented by the Spanish PERKU-Va. There are therefore at least 10 or 20, and maybe even 30 reasons to visit IPEW concerts in Bjelovar and Zagreb from 8th till 11th January, 2009.“
